SharkNinja Recalls 1.8 Million Foodi Multi-Function Pressure Cookers Due to Burn Hazard
In a recent development, SharkNinja has issued a critical recall for more than 2 million Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers in the United States and Canada. This recall comes after the company received 106 reports of burn injuries, with more than 50 cases involving second- or third-degree burns. In response to these incidents, SharkNinja has decided to recall all units of the affected pressure cookers.
The reason behind the recall is a defect in the pressure cookers that allows users to open the lid while the cooker is still pressurized. This defect leads to hot contents ejecting from the cooker and causing burns and injuries to users. As a result, 26 lawsuits have been filed against SharkNinja in relation to these burn injuries.
Consumers who own the Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers are urged to stop using the pressure-cooking function immediately. Instead, they should contact SharkNinja to receive a free replacement lid. It’s important to note that other cooking functions, such as air frying, are safe to use and do not pose a risk to users.
The affected pressure cookers were sold in only a black color with a 6.5-quart capacity. They are easily identifiable by the “Ninja” logo printed on the front of the unit as well as on the product label. The model numbers included in the recall are OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO, and OP350CO.
If you own one of the recalled models, you can contact SharkNinja at 888-370-1733 or sharkninja@rqa-inc.com to request a replacement lid. In the meantime, while waiting for the replacement lid, consumers can safely continue to use the air frying and other functions of the pressure cooker.
The affected pressure cookers were sold at various retailers, including Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, and Target, as well as online through their websites, Amazon, and Ninjakitchen.com. They were available for purchase from January 2019 to March 2025 at a price of approximately $200.
In conclusion, SharkNinja’s recall of the Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing consumer safety. By taking prompt action to address the issue and provide free replacement lids to affected consumers, SharkNinja is working to ensure the well-being of its customers.
