Igloo Products Corp., based in Katy, Texas, has issued a recall for nearly 1.3 million coolers due to safety concerns. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that the coolers pose a risk of fingertip amputation and crushing hazards because the tow handle can pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler.
The recall was initially announced in February 2025 and affected approximately 1,130,000 Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers sold in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. As of May 8, an additional 155,900 units were included in the recall. Igloo has received 78 reports of fingertip injuries, with 26 resulting in fingertip amputations, bone fractures, or lacerations.
The recalled coolers have a tow handle with “Igloo” printed on the side and were sold in various body and lid color combinations. The model numbers can be found on labels affixed to the bottom of the coolers. The affected coolers were manufactured before January 2024 and sold at retailers like Costco, Target, Academy, Dick’s, and online at Amazon.com and Igloocoolers.com for prices ranging from $80 to $140. They were purchased between January 2019 and January 2025.
Consumers who own a recalled Igloo cooler should immediately stop using it and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle. Igloo also advises practicing caution around cooler pinch points and moving components to prevent any accidents. Concerned customers can reach Igloo at 888-943-5182 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, via email at igloo90qt@sedgwick.com, or online at www.igloo90qtrecall.expertinquiry.com or www.igloocoolers.com for more information on the recall.
