Walmart is not just a retail store anymore, especially for food lovers. The big box store has transformed into a hub for all things food-related, offering a variety of unique snacks and convenient frozen meals. But it’s not just about groceries anymore; Walmart has been expanding its restaurant options within its stores, allowing shoppers to shop and dine all in one place.
One of the latest additions to the Walmart dining scene is Wienerschnitzel, known as the “world’s largest hot dog chain.” Set to open in select Walmart locations by the fall of 2025, Wienerschnitzel will bring its popular hot dogs to customers in stores in Puyallup, Wash., Alamogordo, N.M., Tempe, Ariz., Reno, Nev., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Bakersfield, Calif.
Customers can expect to find Wienerschnitzel’s full menu at these quick-service hot dog restaurants, including favorites like the Chili Cheese Dog, Junkyard Dog, Classic Chili Cheese Fries, and Jalapeño Poppers. And for dessert, Tastee Freez soft-serve treats will be available for a sweet treat after enjoying a savory hot dog.
Ted Milburn, Director of Franchise Development at Wienerschnitzel, expressed excitement about the new partnership with Walmart, stating that it allows the brand to bring its iconic flavors to new audiences and stay relevant in the ever-evolving retail and dining landscape. The expansion into Walmart locations will provide franchisees with access to high-traffic areas with a built-in demand for Wienerschnitzel’s offerings.
While the initial plan is to open Wienerschnitzel inside Walmart stores in only six states, the brand sees these partnerships as a blueprint for future growth. There are no set plans for additional locations in other states at the moment, but the success of these initial openings could pave the way for more Wienerschnitzel restaurants in Walmart stores across the country in the future. Food lovers can look forward to enjoying their favorite hot dogs and treats while shopping at Walmart in the coming years.
