Kasih Ibu Hospital Group’s main hospital in Denpasar, the capital of Bali, Indonesia, has achieved Stage 6 validation in the HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model. This model evaluates an organization’s maturity in utilizing EMR capabilities.
The hospital group, which initially started as a maternity hospital in Denpasar before expanding into a general hospital, recognized the importance of digital transformation due to its location in one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. With four branches across Bali, the hospital group began its digital journey by implementing a business intelligence platform to facilitate data-driven decision-making and identify areas for improvement. This was followed by the adoption of PACS, LIS, and an EMR system powered by Vesalius.
In 2018, the hospital’s visionary leadership spearheaded the implementation of the EMR system, leading to its recent validation for Stage 6 by HIMSS. During the validation process, HIMSS validators commended the hospital for its automated early warning scoring system, which provides real-time alerts and aids in patient monitoring. The hospital was also praised for integrating CDSS with global clinical resources, implementing closed-loop management systems, and introducing a patient portal called KIH Connect to enhance patient engagement.
Continuous monitoring and improvement were crucial components of the hospital’s digital transformation journey. By regularly analyzing data using Tableau and documenting all aspects of their digital systems and processes, the hospital ensured compliance with Stage 6 standards.
Looking ahead, Kasih Ibu Hospital Group plans to further invest in the digital transformation of its hospitals and aims to achieve the highest EMRAM stage. This includes potential integration with SatuSehat for data exchange and other requirements outlined by HIMSS.
The achievement of Stage 6 validation underscores the hospital’s commitment to advanced healthcare technology capabilities and its dedication to providing high-quality care. In addition to enhancing patient safety, operational efficiency, and reputation, HIMSS EMRAM validation positions the hospital to adopt new health technologies and remain at the forefront of medical advancements.
This recognition solidifies Kasih Ibu Hospital Group’s position as a leading healthcare provider in the region and demonstrates its readiness to embrace future technologies for the benefit of its patients.
