Ice cream lovers have a lot to look forward to with the latest licensing deals from Kellanova. Partnering with Golden West Food Group, Kellanova is bringing the beloved flavors of Eggo and Rice Krispies Treats to the frozen dessert aisle.
The Eggo lineup includes pints and sandwiches featuring Buttery Maple, Chocolatey Chip, and Blueberry ice cream. The sandwiches are made with two waffle cookie layers sandwiching delicious ice cream in between. On the other hand, the Rice Krispies products offer a pint of original-flavor ice cream along with three different sandwich options with original, strawberry, and triple chocolate ice cream nestled between crispy marshmallow squares.
Frances Alvarez, the senior vice president of brand management at Beanstalk, the agency that facilitated the deal, expressed excitement about the new treats, stating that Golden West Food Group captured the essence of each brand perfectly. These delightful treats will be available at popular stores like Walmart, Kroger, and Albertson’s.
This move by Kellanova to expand the reach of its Eggo brand follows a trend in the industry where CPG brands are venturing into new categories. In recent years, we have seen Mondelēz International introducing Oreo into frozen treats and Mars Wrigley launching ice cream products from popular confectionery brands like Snickers, M&M’s, Twix, and Kind bar.
Moreover, Graeter’s Ice Cream and Skyline Chili are teaming up to launch a unique flavor called Skyline Spice Ice Cream. Combining Graeter’s handcrafted French Pot ice cream with Skyline’s signature chili spice mix and crunchy oyster crackers, this sweet and savory treat will be available at Graeter’s shops, Skyline restaurants, and select Kroger stores.
The partnership between these two Ohio-based brands aims to bring a spicy twist to the frozen dessert category, capitalizing on the growing consumer interest in spicy foods and beverages. According to a 2024 survey by NC Solutions, 62% of consumers are more likely to purchase items advertised as spicy, making it a hot trend in the food industry.
Ice cream has proven to be a versatile platform for companies to experiment with unique flavors. From beer-inspired ice cream to savory-sweet collaborations, brands are constantly innovating to offer consumers exciting new options. With Kellanova and Graeter’s leading the way with their Eggo and Skyline Spice ice creams, the frozen dessert aisle is set to get even more interesting for ice cream enthusiasts.
As companies continue to push the boundaries of traditional flavors and partnerships, consumers can look forward to a wide array of innovative and delicious ice cream options to satisfy their sweet cravings.
