Denver-based addiction treatment providers AspenRidge Recovery and Colorado Medication-Assisted Recovery have recently announced their merger, combining forces to provide comprehensive care for those struggling with addiction and mental health challenges. The details of the merger, including which organization is the acquirer and any involvement of investment firms, have not yet been disclosed.
Founder Cortland Mathers-Suter will step into the role of CEO for the newly combined company, with Michael Damioli, the clinical director of Colorado Medication-Assisted Recovery, serving as the chief operating officer. While Colorado Medication-Assisted Recovery previously listed Mathers-Suter as its managing partner and did not have a CEO, AspenRidge Recovery’s CEO, Shannon Van Deman, has been leading the charge at their organization.
In a statement released about the merger, Mathers-Suter expressed his excitement about the opportunity to bring the two teams together to innovate, grow, and expand their reach to help even more individuals in need of recovery services. The goal is to continue developing top-tier treatment programs that address a wide range of addiction and mental health issues.
AspenRidge Recovery offers a variety of programs, including partial hospitalization programming (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), medication-assisted treatment (MAT), virtual IOP, family programs, and an alumni program. With three locations along I-25 in Colorado, they provide a range of services to support individuals on their recovery journey.
Colorado Medication-Assisted Recovery specializes in outpatient detox, PHPs, IOPs, integrated mental health and substance use disorder therapy services, and MAT. Their focus on medication-assisted treatment and comprehensive care makes them a valuable partner in the merger with AspenRidge Recovery.
This merger is just one of several deals that have been announced in the addiction treatment industry in 2025. In February alone, Quince Orchard Psychotherapy acquired two organizations and rebranded as Orchard Mental Health Group, while two clinician-entrepreneurs joined forces to create Well Behavioral Health. Additionally, Brentwood, Tennessee-based Odyssey Behavioral Healthcare underwent a change in ownership with a new private equity backer.
The coming together of AspenRidge Recovery and Colorado Medication-Assisted Recovery signals a commitment to providing high-quality care and support for individuals struggling with addiction and mental health challenges. By combining their expertise and resources, they aim to create a stronger, more effective platform for helping those in need of recovery services.
