Chomps, a fast-growing company specializing in meat sticks, is making significant strides to meet the increasing demand for its protein-packed snacks. The company recently announced plans to construct its second dedicated plant in Beatrice, Nebraska, with a massive 160,000-square-foot facility capable of producing up to 150 million meat sticks annually. This expansion is expected to boost Chomps’ production capacity by 15%, allowing the company to better cater to consumer needs.
According to Chomps, the high demand for its meat sticks has been overwhelming, with the company struggling to fulfill orders despite churning out 2 million meat sticks daily. However, with the new facility, Chomps aims to bridge this gap and meet up to 95% of its orders. This move is seen as essential to sustain the company’s growth momentum and drive future innovation.
Rashid Ali, co-founder, and CEO of Chomps, expressed the importance of increasing capacity to meet consumer demand effectively. He emphasized that the new facility signifies a strategic move that will enable the company to scale operations intentionally, supporting continued growth and innovation. The plant is set to open in the second quarter of 2027 and is projected to create around 150 job opportunities. Chomps is collaborating with Landmark Snacks, a co-manufacturing partner, on the development of the new facility.
Chomps prides itself on being the fastest-growing company in the meat sticks market, with a remarkable 161% year-over-year sales growth. The company has outpaced the industry’s average growth rate of 16.1% and is on track to achieve close to $1 billion in sales this year, a significant leap from $50 million in 2019.
Jason Dols, Chomps’ senior vice president of operations, highlighted that the new plant will not only increase production volume but also enable the company to drive innovation, expand into new channels, and enhance support for retail partners and direct-to-consumer customers. Additionally, the facility will allow Chomps to invest in large-scale national campaigns to deepen consumer engagement and loyalty.
The Nebraska plant marks Chomps’ second dedicated meat sticks location, following the opening of a 300,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Missouri earlier this year. The company also collaborates with other co-manufacturers to produce its products, reflecting its commitment to meeting growing demand in the meat snacks sector.
The surge in meat stick sales is attributed to consumer preferences for convenient, high-protein snacks. Sales of dried meat snacks, excluding jerky, have risen by 10.7% to $3.3 billion in 2024, with the category adding nearly $1.2 billion in sales since 2020. This rapid growth has prompted other manufacturers, such as Jack Link’s and Archer, to expand their production capacity to meet the escalating demand in the market. Jack Link’s recently opened a $450 million processing plant in Perry, while Archer inaugurated a second manufacturing plant in Los Angeles to double its production capacity.
