Oracle Introduces Oracle Health Community Care to Enhance Patient Care in Remote Settings
Oracle has recently launched a new tool called Oracle Health Community Care, which is designed to complement Oracle Health Foundation electronic health records. This mobile extension aims to connect healthcare providers to patient data during in-home visits and at mobile clinics, allowing for offline chart updating as well.
Importance of Remote Updating
The ability to update patient charts remotely is crucial to support the increasing shift towards home-based care, according to Oracle. In areas with unreliable network connections, healthcare providers often face challenges accessing comprehensive patient data, which can impact the quality and timeliness of care provided.
Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, emphasized the importance of adapting care settings to incorporate home health, mobile venues, and rural environments where consistent network connectivity may not always be available.
Key Features of Oracle Health Community Care
Healthcare providers in Europe, Australia, and other regions outside the U.S. have been utilizing Oracle’s mobile cloud extension to access patient records and document their visits. The mobile extension securely stores data on the mobile device and automatically synchronizes any updates with the EHR’s master record when reconnected to a network.
Oracle Health Community Care offers a user-friendly interface consistent with the EHR, simplifying training and onboarding. It also includes integrated mapping tools for navigation, allows direct communication with primary care providers for advice during patient visits, and facilitates faster access to treatment.
Industry Trends in EHR Development
In response to evolving healthcare needs, EHR vendors are continuously introducing tools to support care delivery outside traditional healthcare settings. Oracle has been focusing on enhancing interoperability, introducing AI-driven documentation tools, and providing near real-time mobile charting capabilities to improve patient care.
Verma highlighted Oracle’s commitment to reinventing its EHR to drive efficiency, improve clinical care, accelerate innovation, and reduce costs for health systems.
