Nestlé, the Switzerland-based food and beverage giant, has named Alfonso Gonzalez Loeschen as the new CEO of Nespresso. This appointment comes after Philipp Navratil was selected to oversee the entire company, leaving a vacancy at the helm of Nespresso. Gonzalez Loeschen, who has been leading Nespresso’s North American business since January 2020, will officially take on his new role on November 1.
Navratil expressed confidence in Gonzalez Loeschen, citing his extensive expertise and deep understanding of the portioned coffee category. He highlighted Gonzalez Loeschen’s results-focused approach and ability to inspire teams, stating that these qualities will enable him to drive performance and execution within the Nespresso division.
This leadership change follows the recent dismissal of former Nestlé CEO Laurent Freixe, who was removed from his position after a year due to an undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate. Navratil, who was previously heading Nespresso, was chosen as Freixe’s successor.
Gonzalez Loeschen’s career at Nestlé began in 1992 in Mexico as an assistant marketing manager. Over the years, he has held various leadership positions in different regions, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United States. His diverse experience within the company prepares him well for the challenges of leading one of Nestlé’s largest divisions.
Nespresso has been a significant revenue driver for Nestlé, as evidenced by its nearly $4 billion in sales during the first half of 2025. This marked a 5.8% increase from the previous year, with the North American market showing particularly strong double-digit sales growth.
Overall, Nestlé’s decision to appoint Alfonso Gonzalez Loeschen as the new CEO of Nespresso reflects the company’s commitment to strong leadership and continued growth within its coffee division. Gonzalez Loeschen’s proven track record and strategic vision position him well to lead Nespresso into the future.
