Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Delays Workforce Restructure
Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand has decided to postpone its planned workforce restructure, which included cutting positions in digital and data roles across the organization. This decision comes after discussions with the trade union Public Service Association, which had raised concerns about the potential impact of job cuts on the organization’s IT security.
Interim chief human resources officer, Fiona McCarhy, stated that the restructure of three directorates within the organization has been put on hold. These directorates include the National Public Health Service, Planning, Funding and Outcomes Group, Data and Analytics, and Community Mental Health Funding and Investment.
McCarthy explained that cost savings have been achieved through operational efficiencies, voluntary redundancies, and early exit processes in these areas, leading to the decision to pause the restructure.
