Ons Jabeur, a two-time Wimbledon runner-up, recently announced on X that she will be taking a break from tennis. She expressed that she is no longer finding happiness in playing the sport and feels it is time to prioritize her own well-being.
Reflecting on her decision, Jabeur stated, “For the past two years, I’ve been pushing myself so hard, battling through injuries and facing numerous challenges. However, deep down, I haven’t felt truly happy on the court for quite some time.”
She added, “Tennis is a beautiful sport, but right now, I believe it’s necessary to step back and focus on myself: to breathe, to heal, and to rediscover the joy of simply living.”
The 30-year-old’s last competitive match was at Wimbledon on June 30, where she had to retire from her first-round match against Viktoriya Tomova due to breathing difficulties caused by her asthma, a condition that also affected her performance at the 2025 Australian Open.
Ons Jabeur’s Recent Injury History
In 2024, Jabeur’s season ended prematurely due to shoulder discomfort, and this year she has been struggling with a recurring knee and leg injury.
