With the winter season in full swing, Starbucks is introducing some new espresso offerings to keep us warm and caffeinated. One of the highlights is the Cortado, a classic coffee drink that will now be available on their menus. The Cortado features three shots of ristretto, a concentrated version of Starbucks’ Blonde Espresso, combined with frothy steamed milk. According to Starbucks beverage developer Ricky Gonzalez, the Cortado offers a soft and smooth flavor profile that is bold yet approachable. The ristretto shots enhance the rich flavors of the coffee, resulting in a sweeter and richer taste.
Originating from Spain, the Cortado is traditionally served in a four-ounce pour, but Starbucks will be offering it in an eight-ounce short-sized cup. For a twist on the classic Cortado, customers can try the Brown Sugar Oatmilk Cortado, which includes Starbucks’ liquid Brown Sugar syrup and plant-based milk. While iced customizations are not available, Starbucks is committed to preserving the drink’s intended flavor profile and integrity.
In addition to the Cortado, Starbucks is also reformulating their popular matcha drink. Baristas will now use a specialized new blender part to create a smoother and more consistent blend. The matcha powder will arrive unsweetened, allowing customers to customize the sweetness of their latte. By default, all matcha orders will be sweetened with Starbucks’ classic syrup.
For those looking for a sweeter and nuttier option, Starbucks is introducing the Pistachio Latte, available in both hot and iced versions. The winter menu also includes the savory Spicy Falafel Pocket as a permanent menu addition, along with a chipotle almond dipping sauce for a limited time. Customers can also enjoy the Vanilla Bean Custard Danish and look forward to the Valentine’s Day Cake Pop launching later in the season.
Food blogger @Markie_Devo previously leaked the rumored menu changes on Instagram, and it seems that most of his predictions have come true. While there are still rumored drinks and Valentine’s treats yet to be confirmed, Starbucks’ 2025 Winter Menu is shaping up to be a delicious and exciting lineup. So, as we navigate through the gray days of January, these new offerings from Starbucks might just be the pick-me-up we need to brighten our spirits during the winter months.
