Behavioral Health M&A Continues to Make Waves in 2025
Experts in the field of behavioral health mergers and acquisitions predicted a resurgence in dealmaking activity for the year 2025, and so far, their predictions seem to be coming true. One of the most recent transactions to take place is the acquisition of Mission Critical Psychological Services (MCPS) by Valor Healthcare Inc., announced just this past Tuesday. While the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, the impact of this merger is expected to be significant.
Valor Healthcare, based in Dallas, is a company that specializes in providing behavioral health services specifically tailored for veterans, in addition to offering primary care services, diagnostics, and more. With a large network of outpatient clinics spread across several states, Valor Healthcare serves tens of thousands of veterans each year.
On the other side of the deal, Mission Critical Psychological Services is a provider of telehealth-focused behavioral health solutions catering to federal government agencies, government contractors, and first-responder populations. With a history spanning over two decades, Mission Critical works with thousands of individuals in high-stress environments around the globe.
Dr. Scott Wise, president and CEO of Valor Healthcare, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, “This acquisition furthers our mission to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and high-quality health care to those who protect and serve our nation and our federal government partners. The Mission Critical team shares our deep commitment to patient-centered care, and their expertise in behavioral health will enhance our ability to support our federal partners with innovative, compassionate solutions.”
By acquiring Mission Critical, Valor Healthcare is able to enhance its integrated federal government health care services platform by incorporating specialized pre- and post-deployment psychological assessment, trauma-informed care, and in-mission crisis intervention services.
Dr. Paul Brand, CEO of Mission Critical Psychological Services, also expressed his optimism about the partnership, stating, “Our partnership with Valor Healthcare enables us to scale our services while staying true to our mission.”
