A New AI Tool, Zoom Workplace for Frontline, Enhances On-Shift Communications
A new tool, Zoom Workplace for Frontline, is now available to all customers. It utilizes agentic artificial intelligence to enhance on-shift communications and work management, as announced by the telehealth company on Wednesday.
WHY IT MATTERS
Zoom aims to improve productivity, collaboration, and connection among frontline teams in various industries with real-time activity feeds, auto-generated on-shift chat groups, and push-to-talk functionality.
For healthcare workers, the application focuses on enhancing communication and collaboration within a shift. It features tools for managers to facilitate shift swapping, task management, and provides shift summaries.
According to Ritu Mukherjee, Zoom’s head of product, business acceleration, and readiness, the app streamlines shift handoffs and ensures efficient communication within teams.
Additionally, the app can integrate with existing workforce management software to assist frontline managers in making staffing and scheduling decisions across shifts.
THE LARGER TREND
In January, Zoom announced its partnership with AI developer Suki to integrate AI tools into its clinical workflow platform. This collaboration aims to streamline clinical notes generation after patient visits for healthcare providers.
At HIMSS25, Zoom launched a public beta of its ambient notes capabilities in its Workplace for Clinicians product, furthering its commitment to incorporating AI into its products.
By leveraging agentic AI across its products, Zoom is working towards automating clinical workflows and enhancing user experiences for healthcare professionals.
ON THE RECORD
Smita Hashim, Zoom’s chief product officer, emphasized the company’s dedication to delivering an AI-first open work platform that caters to the needs of frontline workers, who make up a significant portion of the global workforce.
